The Pitmen Painters was a simple and yet very effective set design which utilised the use of back projection screens to change the setting and set the ambiance of each scene.

With a mixture of timber frame construction and lightweight aluminium we were able to achieve the design to the exact appearance of the designers model even down to the small working cupboards to store the Pitmen’s painting equipment. The floor, which was designed with added perspective to give the set more depth was all cut from our CNC machine. The floor was divided into approx 30 sheets which all interlocked with added grooves to give the impression of floor boards tapering into the distance.
